Jakarta – Vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming wants farmers to live better lives as he promised affordable fertilizers should he win the election.
"To improve farmer's welfare, we will work towards providing easier access to affordable fertilizers and seeds," Gibran said at the vice presidential debate in Jakarta on Sunday.
Gibran, who is the running mate to Prabowo Subianto, also promised to stabilize food prices. To this end, he plans on working with the state logistics body Bulog and the state-owned food-holding ID Food. Gibran also vowed to help equip young people with smart farming.
He added: "I promise to continue agrarian reforms for a fairer ownership and use of land."
"We will continue the land certification and registration program, land redistribution, and one map policy," Gibran said.
Sunday's debate focused on sustainable development goals, natural resources, environment, energy, food, agrarian issues, indigenous people, and villages.
