Istiqomatul Hayati, Jakarta – Viral videotrons in support of Anies Baswedan by Anies Bubble and Olppaemi Project were taken down by the regional governments on Monday, January 15.
The digital advertisement which was aimed at supporting presidential candidate number 1 whom they called Abah Owl, Abah Anies, and Park Ahn Nice was only in place for less than 24 hours of the one-week advertising contract.
Olppaemi Project, a fan project initiated by a fan account named Anies Bubble to support Anies in the presidential race in a K-pop style, reported the news on its X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, January 15.
"We have to inform you that the LED ads that were scheduled to be broadcast for one week (January 15-21, 2024) in Bekasi and Jakarta cannot continue due to something beyond our control," Olppaemi Project wrote on its X account, which has more than 13,000 followers.
Claiming to have no affiliation with Anies and Cak Imin or Amin's national campaign team, Olppaemi Project and Anies Bubble expressed their gratitude for the positive appreciation for their project and are looking for a solution to these videotron issues.
"Humanies, no need to worry, and please support and accompany us to optimize the project and provide regular updates," Olppaemi Project wrote, trying to soothe Humanies, the name of Anies' supporters in the community.
The regional governments of Bekasi and Jakarta have not yet responded to the removal of the videotrons.
Anies Baswedan's responses
Anies Baswedan expressed his appreciation for 'the extraordinary initiative' of the Olppaemi Project and Anies Bubble. Although the end was unexpected, he called on the fans to keep their spirits up.
"Keep your spirits up, because no matter how much pressure we receive, it is nothing compared to the pressure that most people live with every day. So whatever challenges we encounter in this struggle for the Indonesian people, we will face them, together," Anies said on X.
K-poppers's organic support for Anies Baswedan
K-pop fans' support for presidential candidate number 1 has recently drawn the public spotlight. It is widely known that K-poppers usually show their support for their idols in many ways, such as sending a food truck or making huge billboard advertisements.
Due to their strong attachment to K-pop culture, K-pop fans often bring various things from outside the K-pop world into the K-pop world, which is called Kpopfication. This is what happens to Anies Baswedan. Indonesian K-poppers seem to have found their new idol amid the presidential election campaign.
