Antara, Jakarta – The Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy'ari, has set a target to ensure the delivery of all 2024 election logistics by Jan. 15, 2024, with the current focus on the ongoing distribution of ballot papers.

"Our target for the distribution of ballots within the country is no later than January 15," Hasyim said in Bali as quoted by news agency Antara on Thursday.

Hasyim said that logistics distribution for overseas voters was prioritized between Jan. 2 and Jan. 11, 2024, through postal services. Overseas voters are voting earlier than the domestic schedule.

"Ballot printing process is nearing 100 percent completion. Each printing facility will distribute the ballots to districts and cities. Currently, all regions in Indonesia are in the distribution phase," he said.

The KPU so far has not encountered significant challenges in logistics distribution. A case of damaged ballot boxes in the Kepulauan Selayar logistics warehouse in South Sulawesi, caused by flooding, has been addressed by replacing the unusable boxes.

"It has been handled on Jan. 8. Ballot boxes that couldn't be used have been replaced," said Hasyim.

The 2024 General Election within the country is set to take place on Feb. 14. The printing of ballots is currently underway in designated locations as well as in Jakarta, focusing on producing ballots for both the presidential and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) elections.

Ballot folding and arrangement of other logistics are underway in various regions, with some already reaching 99 percent completion. The KPU Badung in Bali reported that it has received the logistics, including DPD ballots.

"Ballots in Badung have been folded 99 percent. We are waiting for the arrival of DPD ballots, and we will work according to the standards set by the KPU," said I Gusti Ketut Gede Yusa Arsana, Chairman of KPU Badung.
