Jakarta – Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo said he and the Ganjar-Mahfud MD campaign team will intensify their activities in the 40 days leading up to the 2024 presidential election.
"[We will] consolidate all our forces to prepare campaigns for the remaining time," said Ganjar on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara News.
Ganjar made his statement after attending a consolidation with his team to discuss the campaign strategy. Leaders of supporting political parties, including Megawati Soekarnoputri from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Oesman Sapta Odang from the Hanura Party, Muhammad Mardiono from the United Development Party (PPP) and Hary Tanoesoedibjo from the Perindo Party were also present during the meeting.
According to Ganjar, all parties in the campaign team were optimistic about winning the upcoming election. "Everyone is optimistic [about winning]. Insya Allah [God willing], we will move much more massively and we will discuss the technical aspects [for the campaign] today," he said.
During the consolidation meeting, Ganjar also said several legal issues related to the 2024 election had been discussed. He said the legal team had already handled the incidents.
Ganjar-Mahfud volunteers in Boyolali, Central Java, were assaulted on Saturday after a misunderstanding with local authorities. Six Indonesian Army personnel have been named suspects in the case.
"We discussed everything. We discussed the incidents, which were then handled by our legal team," said Ganjar.
All three presidential hopefuls are set to face off in the third election debate with the theme of defense, security, international relations and geopolitics, which is scheduled to be held at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, on Jan. 7.
Following the third debate, the two remaining election debates will be held on Jan. 21 and Feb. 4.
