Advist Khoirunikmah, Jakarta – The Central Jakarta's General Elections Supervisory Agency or Bawaslu cancels its summon for vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka on his alleged campaign violation.
Gibran Rakabuming was seen distributing free milk during a car-free day or CFD event in Jakarta on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023.
"Concerning the CFD report Bawaslu will not proceed with the case on account of inadequate elements of general elections policy violations," the head of Central Jakarta Bawaslu Christian Nelson Pangkey told Tempo on Wednesday evening.
Central Jakarta Bawaslu claimed the decision to cancel the case was based on Bawaslu's regulation. However, the complete decision on Gibran's case will be announced on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023.
"The complete decision will be read on Dec. 29, 2023, quicker than the initial Jan. 3, 2024," Christian Nelson said.
Earlier, Bawaslu probed three politicians from PAN, namely Zita Anjani, Sigit Purnomo Syamsuddin, and Surya Utama on Thursday, Dec. 21. Meanwhile, another PAN politician Eko Hendro Purnomo was absent due to sickness. They were accompanying Gibran at the time of the alleged campaign violation.
Meanwhile, Gibran Rakabuming has denied campaigning during the sports event. "I was not bringing any campaign props," he said. He also denied inviting people to vote in the upcoming general elections while distributing the free milk.
