Daniel A. Fajri, Jakarta – The former Governor of West Java said the Jokowi administration will build a statue of Indonesia's first president and vice president Soekarno-Hatta in IKN, East Kalimantan.
This decision was made during a meeting between Ridwan and Jokowi at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday. "It was decided that there will be a memorial for the heroes. So there will be a statue of Soekarno-Hatta as a symbol of our founding fathers, to be finalized next year," he said.
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing reported that the developmental progress of the Nusantara Capital City or IKN has reached 60 percent for its first batch. The head of IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force Danis Sumadilaga explained that this batch is targeted to finish by the end of 2024.
"It progresses nicely, these weeks the first batch will reach 60 percent, or 59 percent to be exact. The second batch has reached 2 to 3 percent of development," he said in Jakarta on Sunday, Dec. 3.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Ridwan Kamil stated that by August 17, 2024, ministerial offices, the presidential office, the presidential palace, and the Sumbu Kebangsaan area will also be expected to finish development.
Ridwan, known as Kang Emil, said that he was asked to review the IKN project development to ensure the green design, smart design, and futuristic design in IKN are maintained.
"I've been mandated to become the curator of IKN," he concluded.
