Adil Al Hasan, Jakarta – Presidential Candidate Ganjar Pranowo visited the Nusantara Capital City or IKN project in East Kalimantan on Thursday morning, Dec. 7, 2023. Ganjar expressed his commitment to carry on with its development if he's elected in the 2024 general elections.

His visit to IKN, Ganjar went on, is a form of commitment to continue the program initiated by current president Joko Widodo or Jokowi. "I am here as the first [presidential candidate to campaign] in IKN to showcase that commitment," Ganjar said in a statement.

According to him, IKN development is a concept that has been planned for a long time, tracing back to the era of Indonesia's first president Soekarno.

"I'm a consistent person, and will not sway from implementing a law, and of course, IKN as a concept has been prepared event since [Soekarno's] administration as a plan to move the capital city elsewhere," he said.

Meanwhile, the former Governor of Central Java mentioned that it would be his duty to resume IKN's development that had been initiated by his predecessor.

IKN, he said, is designed to become a futuristic city with advanced technologies. To realize that concept, he added, the participation of all stakeholders is required.

"If we want to achieve something, we have to implement and execute what has been designed and drawn. This is a near-perfect concept and there will be a 'wow effect' if we support [IKN's development]," he said.

Concerning civil state apparatus (ASN) transfer to IKN, Gajar believed a well-thought-out plan was necessary to ensure a measured and precise implementation.

When asked if he was ready to take up office in IKN if elected as the next president, Ganjar answered briefly. "Of course," he said.
