Han Revanda Putra, Jakarta – The deputy of Prabowo-Gibran's campaigning team (TKN) Ahmad Muzani spoke up about the voters' personal data leaks from the official website of the General Elections Commission or KPU. A hacker who goes by the name "Jimbo" claimed to have obtained the final voter list from the site.
Muzani said the issue must be thoroughly investigated since it involved personal data. "Don't blow it up to irrelevant parties," he said when met in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Thursday. "It must be resolved and thoroughly investigated to find who was responsible for the leaks."
In response to this alleged leak that broke out on Wednesday, Nov. 29, the head of the Technical Division of KPU Idham Holik stated that the information system of KPU is protected and secure.
"I believe that all of KPU's information system is protected and secure," he wrote on WhatsApp on Wednesday.
According to Idham, hacking constitutes a crime punishable by law. "Thus anyone who [hacks] will have to deal with law enforcers," he said.
For now, the KPU's Data and Information Division along with its Cyber-security Task Force is conducting a digital footprint analysis of the KPU information system that houses the voters' data.
Idham explained that in previous cases such as Bjorka, the voters' data leak was a false alarm. The data leaked by the alleged hacker was not of the final voter list at the 2019 or 2024 general elections, he claimed.
The information system managed by KPU, he added, has been certified by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.
