Dicky Kurniawan, Riri Rahayu, Jakarta – Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumado admitted that the number of sales of incentivized electric motorcycles is still scarce.

He even said that the amount of Type Test Registration Certificate (SRUT) released until September is far below the government's target.

Previously, the government targeted the sale of 200,000 units of incentivized electric motorcycles. However, the published SRUT until September only reached 66,000 units. A similar situation occurred with electric motorcycle conversion which recorded 191 units out of the targeted 50,000.

"The data is so far below the government's target, thus we need stronger cooperation and effort by all relevant parties," he told Tempo.co today, Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023.

However, the minister also stated that Indonesia is still the main destination for automobile industry investment. Indonesia, he added, is the biggest automobile manufacturer after Thailand.

"Hopefully, this will be an opportunity to maximize the utility of domestic electric vehicle production capacity to realize the automobile industry target and improve its contribution toward the national economy," he said.

Citing the Sisapira site, there are currently 6,519 registrations for a new electric motorcycle incentive. Out of those numbers, 4,299 have been verified while 4,148 incentives have been distributed. This leaves 185,034 units of incentivized electric motorcycles that have not been sold this year.
