Devy Ernis, Jakarta – Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration launched the latest version of the education visa on Thursday, Oct. 13, to make it easier for foreign nationals seeking to pursue their studies in the country.
"We are providing this convenience to support Indonesia as a destination for international students," said Director for Immigration Stay Permits Heru Tjondro at the launch held during the 2023 Immigration Festival-IMIFEST at Grha Sabha Pramana, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Yogyakarta, on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Quoted from Antara, Heru hoped that the new student visa could further improve the educational tourism industry and bring positive impacts on national development.
He explained that with the latest version of the educational visa, prospective students will no longer need to attach a recommendation from the relevant ministry to obtain a visa, but only need to simply attach evidence of acceptance from an educational institution.
There are various options for the visa, including visas for students pursuing bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
Heru also said that the education visa could accommodate foreign nationals willing to serve as educators in Indonesia. The visa application can be submitted online via the website evisa.imigrasi.go.id.
