Mutia Yuantisya, Jakarta – This year would be the last for Jakarta to hold the national Independence Day ceremony as Indonesia's capital city. But even after it no longer holds the status of capital, the city will continue to see developments in all sectors with the priority of solving its problems of congestion and air pollution.

"We will continue to build Jakarta," the city's acting governor Heru Budi Hartono said when mee the National Monument (Monas) area, Thursday, August 17.

Heru Budi said that starting tomorrow a series of meetings to overcome pollution will start in a marathon in several Ministries.

The head of the Presidential Secretariat said that this is the last year that the national Independence Day ceremony will be held in Jakarta. Starting in 2024, the independence ceremony will be held in the new capital city, Nusantara, in Kalimantan.

When asked how prepared he was to move the National Capital City from Jakarta to IKN Nusantara, Heru Budi did not give a detailed answer. He only said that the project, which was heavily promoted by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is currently under construction.

Heru is optimistic that the capital relocation will happen next year.
