Martha Warta Silaban, Jakarta – Ministry for Public Works and Housing through Indonesia's new capital city Nusantara (IKN) Infrastructure Development Task Force revealed that the government will start the development of 47 apartment towers for civil servants in IKN, East Kalimantan in August 2023.
"Development of the 47 towers apartments funded by State Budget scheme will hopefully begin this August starting with contract signing followed by their construction," said the task force leader Danis Sumadilaga in Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
Danis explained that out of 47 towers, the development will finalize 12 towers by next year, projected to house 2,200 civil servants in IKN or Nusantara State Capital.
The Public Works and Housing Ministry is ready to accelerate the development of civil servants' apartments in the IKN area in Sepaku District, North Penajem Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.
"There are 47 towers for the civil servants' apartments and each tower will have 12 floors," said Danis. The smallest unit in the apartment is 98 meters square in width.
According to Danis, the apartment is in line with the government's vision for a forest city concept since the development will minimize the utilization of woods in the forest.
Previously, the government has created a scenario to gradually move civil servants to IKN which is targeted to begin in 2024. Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance and several other ministries and agencies are projected to leave earlier for IKN.
