Layla Aisyah, Jakarta – Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development of Pertamina, A. Salyadi Saputra, said that PT Pertamina is planning to expand its business into the Nusantara New Capital (IKN). Pertamina will develop various integral infrastructures such as a hospital, a hotel, and a campus through its related subsidiaries.
Pertamina is eager to support Indonesia's Net Zero Emission 2060 by establishing projects directly impacting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
"The development in IKN's integrated area will employ the smart city forest concept which is in line with Pertamina's commitment to implement Environmental, Social, and Governance in all of our business lines and operation," said Salyadi.
Salyadi explained that Pertamina will develop a hospital through PT Pertamina Bina Medika-IHC, a hotel resort through PT Patra Jasa, and a vocational university with a green campus concept through Universitas Pertamina in IKN's integrated area.
Salyadi relayed that from the 50 hectares of land Pertamina prepared to build the hospital, only 20 hectares will be utilized for the building, with the rest as an urban green space. Meanwhile, the hotel will be developed utilizing Indonesia's natural resources of bamboo, rattan, and local wood.
Regarding transportation facilities, PT Pelita Air Service has opened a flight route to Balikpapan City for 14 flights a week since March 20, 2023.
To realize Pertamina's plans, according to Salyadi, intense coordination with IKN Authority is needed. Salyadi also revealed the estimation on operation for the hospital and hotel.
"It's possible for the hospital to begin operation this year, but any advanced health treatment will be referred to Pertamina Hospital in Balikpapan. For the hotel, we are hoping it could start operation next year," he added.
