Riani Sanusi Putri, Jakarta – Minister of Investment/Head of the Indonesian Coordinating Investment Board Bahlil Lahadalia claimed that he has accompanied President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to meet Indonesian conglomerates to discuss Nusantara Capital City (IKN) investment.
According to Bahlil, domestic investment in the IKN project has reached Rp40 trillion. "Yesterday I accompanied foreign investors to converse with the President. They will start groundbreaking in September," said Bahlil in his office on Friday, July 21, 2023.
He explained that the investment along with the foreign investment will be utilized in the first phase of IKN development, after the basic infrastructure development. The basic infrastructure development will be financed with the State Budget. The first phase is targeted to be finalized in 2024, with a total of three development phases.
Meanwhile, Bahlil claimed that several infrastructure developments have commenced, such as the development of a stadium. After that, they will start the development of the hospital. schools, and housing. "It's already started and that city is great," said Bahlil.
Further, Bahlil is confident that the IKN investment realization target will go smoothly. He claimed that there is no problem in attracting investors to be involved in the IKN project. Bahlil is optimistic they will be able to conduct the independence day annual ceremony on August 17, 2024, in IKN.
East Kalimantan is one of the biggest investment realization regions during the second quarter of 2023, especially in regard to domestic investment. In this period, the domestic investment value in East Kalimantan reached Rp11 trillion or 6.7% of the total domestic investment realization. Meanwhile, throughout the January to June 2023 period, the domestic investment realization in East Kalimantan reached Rp22.4 trillion, 7.1% of the total realized domestic investment.
