Ayos Carlos, Jakarta – The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train conducted another test on Friday in which the speed was increased to 300 kilometers per hour under heavy rain.
The trial was conducted smoothly with an increased speed due to improvements in the track, signaling system, monitoring system, and electronic system, according to Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), a consortium that runs the country's first-ever high-speed train project.
"The test went smoothly despite the heavy rain along the track. The test train managed to reach 300 kilometers per hour and remained very stable. We plan to increase the speed in stages," KCIC spokesman Emir Monti said.
In the previous trial, the top speed was limited to 220 kph, already a new record in the country's railway history.
The government plans to launch the high-speed train in August during celebrations for the country's 78th anniversary. It will enter commercial services the following month with a limited number of travels.
