Riri Rahayu, Jakarta – Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi reminded airlines to keep tickets affordable, especially during the Christmas and New Year Holiday season. His message came through a circular delivered via the Air Transportation Directorate General.

"We have given airlines letters asking them not to charge high tariffs," Budi Karya told reporters at Soekarno Hatta Airport Friday, December 23.

Budi Karya also asked for good flight coverage throughout Indonesia, especially flights to Ambon, NTT, and Papua. He said that many people would be celebrating Christmas in these areas.

He also asked Angkasa Pura (AP) II as the airport operator to maximize aircraft operating hours during the holiday season. For example, by increasing airport working hours from 12 hours to 15 hours. Therefore, flights can depart at night.

AP II recorded an increase in flight flow. President director Muhammad Awaluddin said that the flight recovery rate was close to 100 percent. This can be seen in the take-off and landing movements in airports managed by AP II on December 22 and 23.

"Today, we estimate more than 1,050 take-offs and landings at Soekarno-Hatta. Yesterday, there were 1,026 movements," Awaluddin said at the airport, Friday, December 23, 2022.
