Antara, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Monday at the Gadjah Mada University 73rd dies Natalis asserted that Indonesia refuses to be forced to export natural resources that the country is able to process domestically.

This echoes the President's stand regarding Indonesia's national policy in a speech he delivered at the ASEAN-European Union Summit.

"The era of colonialism has left deep trauma to our nation. We were coerced into forced labor. Right now, we refuse to be forced into things, which include forced exports," said the President in his opening speech delivered virtually at the UGM dies Natalis on December 19.

He believes the country has a realistic chance to turn into the world's food and energy provider and made it clear that the national downstream program can carry Indonesia into becoming a developed nation.

"All of these aspects must be fought for in the middle of the international political chess, global politics, and must be strengthened by domestic internal capacity," said the President.

He also noted that the G20 Presidency in Bali last month not only gave birth to a declaration amidst a heated global conflict but also claims to realize actual projects that are related to humanity and the economy.
