M Julnis Firmansyah, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has received the Al Hasan bin Ali international peace award from the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace (ADFP). State secretary Pratikno, in announcing the news on Monday, explained that Hasan bin Ali is the grandchild of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad.
The Imam Hasan bin Ali International Peace Prize is an annual honor awarded by the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace since 2015 as a tribute to practical initiatives and academic excellence in promoting peace and coexistence.
"For us, for President Jokowi, for the people of Indonesia, this is an extraordinary award, an extraordinary honor," said Pratikno at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta on Monday, November 7.
The award was delivered this morning by ADFP Secretary General Al-Mahfouz bin Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayya at the Merdeka Palace. The meeting between Mahfouz and Jokowi was held at around 09.00 am local time.
"This simultaneously strengthens relations between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as encourages all of us to succeed in the G20 for world peace and prosperity," said Indonesian State Secretary.
In the brief meeting with Jokowi, Mahfouz said that his visit to the Merdeka Palace was specifically to deliver the award. "This award is an acknowledgment of his dedication to bringing about peace internationally," said Mahfouz.
