Ima Dini Shafira, Imaji Lasahido (Intern), Jakarta – Member of the West Java Golkar and DPD, Ace Hasan Syadzily, said his party still consistently urges the chairperson, Airlangga Hartarto, to run for presidential candidates in 2024. He said that Golkar party would present Airlangga's name to the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB).
Apart from Golkar, KIB consists of National Mandate Party (PAN) and United Development Party (PPP). PAN is considering proposing a duet, Ganjar Pranowo-Ridwan Kamil, to the coalition. Meanwhile, Ganjar's name also appeared in PPP as a presidential candidate.
"Golkar Party still consistently encourages Pak Airlangga as a Presidential candidate to be presented to KIB. Regarding names that are spoken by certain parties is up to them, but the decision is up to the General chairmen of KIB," Said Ace to Tempo, Monday, 31 October 2022.
Ace said KIB would prioritize the internal coalition cadre to be the figure for Presidential and vice presidential candidates. According to him, this decision has been discussed during the KIB internal meeting.
"As far as we know, regarding the figure for the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates, we will prioritize party cadres, of course, these party cadres tend to be Internal Cadres to either Golkar, PAN, and PPP," He said.
Opportunity for Ganjar-Ridwan Kamil by KIB
Previously, the Chairman of PAN DPP, Bima Arya Sugiarto, said the name of Central and West Java Governor, Ganjar Pranowo and Ridwan Kamil, to be considered by his party to run for the presidential election. He said PAN is considering Ganjar-Ridwan Kamil's name to be submitted to KIB.
"These two names are ranked first and fourth most popular in the survey. Number one is Ganjar and number four is Ridwan Kamil. Number two and three have been 'taken by other parties'. It is natural that PAN counting these two names to be discussed at KIB," Bima said when met after the Demi Indonesia event in Jakarta, Saturday, October 29, 2022.
Bima said that PAN had opened for informal communication with Ganjar and Ridwan Kamil. In spite, however, he said all possibilities are still very open.
He regarded Ganjar-Emil complement each other. According to Bima, if this duet could happen, then Indonesia will be united. "Emil and Ganjar fit well. They complement each other. So in the future, if these two figures could unite, then Indonesia shall be united," He said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairperson of PPP, Arsul Sani, stated that all possibilities are still wide open. Including if the candidates for the presidential election are Ganjar-Ridwan Kamil.
Nevertheless, Arsul stated that this proposal needs to be discussed with Golkar Party as a fellow member of KIB. Especially since Golkar is considered the biggest party in the coalition.
"But in the context of KIB, this needs to be discussed along with Golkar Party, which is the largest party in KIB," he said.
Arsul stated that if Golkar and PAN agreed to place Ganjar-Ridwan Kamil together, PPP would follow along. "If Golkar and PAN agreed, then PPP would follow," He said.
