Antara, Jakarta – A total of 73,000 residents of Bogor Regency or 1.21 percent of the total population are living in extreme poverty. The acting regent Iwan Setiawan thus called on all parties to work together to overcome the issue.

"I'm sure we can tackle this if all agencies work together to create collaborative programs," Iwan said in Cibinong, Bogor, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, as quoted from Antara.

According to him, the Bogor Regency Government has allocated two percent of the General Transfer Fund (DTU) totaling Rp14 billion for various programs to boost the people's economy, such as social assistance to a thousand micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and market operation in 40 subdistricts.

"[The programs also include] developing food task force, accelerating the budget realization for Samisade, and providing incentives to RT, RW, teachers, religious teachers, and others," he outlined.

Iwan said his side is still cross-checking the extreme poverty data released by the central government so that the measures to be taken could be right on target. He also asserted that the regional government is ready to coordinate with the ministry to eradicate extreme poverty in the region.

"[The central government releases] data that there are 73,000 people living in extreme poverty as they earn only Rp29,000 a day. We are ready to follow it up," Iwan said.
