Dicky Kurniawan, Jakarta – The Metro Jaya Police on Tuesday said that Jakarta's traffic congestion has reached a level that is no longer sustainable and is uncomfortable to live by. Due to this reason, the police officially pitched the idea of regulating office hours to help reduce congestion.

"Jakarta's traffic has reached 48 percent and this is clearly very uncomfortable. It is considered overly crowded once it reaches that number," said Metro Jaya traffic director senior commissioner Latif Usman on the NTMC website on August 23.

According to Latif, traffic congestion in Jakarta is divided into two-time pockets. The first traffic jam occurs in the morning, precisely when residents start their activities at 07:00-09:00. Meanwhile. The second traffic jam occurs when people finish their activities and return home at 16:00-18:00.Latif also said that there are seven toll road entrances to Jakarta, where traffic jams often occur. Among the seven toll gates include the Cikampek, Priok, and Jagorawi toll roads.

Main artery roads are also the locations prone to congestion in Jakarta, there are at least 18 locations that are of concern to the police.
