Antara, Jakarta – The electability of the NasDem Party in a recent survey conducted by the Center for Political Communication Studies (CPCS) has reportedly dropped after openly announcing that it would endorse the Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan in the future presidential election.

CPCS director Tri Okta on August 4, said that their survey found NasDem's electability drop from 4,0 percent in an April survey to 2.1 percent in the recent survey they conducted in the 22-27 July period.

"The decision to appoint Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate has seen NasDem abandoned by some nationalist voters," said Tri Okta in a statement cited from Antaranews on Thursday.

The CPCS latest survey involved 1,200 respondents who represent 34 Indonesian provinces who were interviewed in person. The survey itself uses a random sampling multistage method with a 2.9 percent margin of error and 95 percent public trust.

Okta stated that the electability decline of NasDem is accompanied by the electability growth of other nationalist political parties. PDIP, for example, remained ahead in the first place and experienced an increase in electability from 18.1 percent in April to 19.5 percent in the latest survey.

Meanwhile, a significant increase occurred in the electability of the Gerindra Party. According to the survey results, Gerindra now has electability of 13.2 percent, while the electability of the Golkar Party has reached 8.8 percent.

"The drop in support for NasDem is inversely proportional to the increase in the electability of other nationalist parties," said Okta.

Among the three parties that have a high probability of endorsing Anies Baswedan, according to Okta, only PKS seems to be enjoying electability growth. PKS logged 6.0 percent electability below PKB (7.1 percent). Meanwhile, the Democrat Party tends to stagnate (5.3 percent) below the PSI (5.6 percent).
