Antara, Jakarta – Democratic Party chairperson Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, or AHY, in an internal party even on Sunday, April 17, said that his Party is open to establish a coalition with each and every political party to compete in the 2024 Presidential Election.
He personally said that he will not hastily announce his candidacy for the upcoming election, either as president or vice president. The eldest son of the former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, popularly known as SBY, intends to actively communicate with party leaders before thinking about candidacy.
"We open the opportunity and would intend to actively communicate with each and every political party. Because everything is still possible in politics," he said on April 17, Antaranews reported.
Moreover, AHY said political party coalitions have not been established in the two years ahead of the election. He predicts that it will be seen by the end of this year where the verification of Party candidacy in the 2024 general election (Pemilu) is held.
"Last minute lobbying will be quite interesting," said AHY, who mentioned the main hurdle in the upcoming election is the 20 percent threshold regulation overseeing political party coalitions.
AHY said the Party's main priority is to open partnership with others that share the same vision, programs, and platforms. Only after these are met, Democratic Party will decide who to endorse in the presidential and vice presidential election.
