Police hunt models in outdoor nude photoshoot at tourist attraction

Coconuts Jakarta - September 23, 2021

Chances are, few of us had heard of Koja Cliff Park in Tangerang, Banten before at least three people stripping naked for an outdoor nude photoshoot put the tourist attraction on the map this week.

The photos, first posted by a now-deleted user on Twitter, showed a couple of young women and a man completely naked – but masked – as they exhibited racy poses for the photoshoot amidst the site's unmistakable geological formations.

With the photos now a full-blown national scandal (judging from the widespread local media coverage, at least), local police are now under pressure to catch the nude models.

"We have not confirmed [that the photos were taken] at Koja Cliff Park, because we're only going by photos that were spread on Twitter," Cisoka Precinct Chief Nurokhman said yesterday.

Nonetheless, the police have questioned two witnesses who manage the tourist site, and they are of the opinion that it's highly likely that the photos were taken at the park.

However, the witnesses said they had not spotted any visitors conducting a nude photoshoot recently, meaning it was likely that it was carried out discreetly.

Fame from the scandal might come at a price for the tourist attraction, as local officials found that the park had been operating without a tourism permit, at a time when all tourist destinations in the region are mandated to close due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Should the nude models be identified and caught, they could face up to 12 years in prison for violating Indonesia's harsh anti-pornography law and the Information and Electronic Transactions Act (UU ITE).
