Jakarta – Indonesia has evacuated its 26 nationals including embassy staff from Kabul amid chaotic situation and political uncertainties after the Taliban return to power in Afghanistan following the departure of US military forces from the country, the foreign minister said on Friday.
The plane carrying Indonesian evacuees currently makes a stopover in Islamabad to refuel, Retno Marsudi tweeted.
"Alhamdulillah [praise to God], the evacuation of Indonesian nationals from Kabul was successful. The Indonesian military aircraft carrying out this mission is now in Islamabad and will proceed to Indonesia soon," she wrote.
Also on board the plane are five Filipinos and two Afghans, who Retno said is a spouse of an Indonesian national and a local staff of the Indonesian Embassy.
