M Rosseno Aji, Jakarta – A number of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) employees who passed the Civic Knowledge Test (TWK) wrote to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, asking him to cancel the test results which threatened 75 of their colleagues with dismissal.

"[We ask the President to] cancel the results of the Civic Knowledge Test which has caused a prolonged polemic to date," said the letter issued on Sunday, May 30. It was noted that 563 employees signed the letter as of May 30 at 13:40 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

The President was also asked to instruct the status change for all KPK employees to be state apparatus (ASN) as mandated by Law No. 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK, Government Regulation No. 41 of 2020, and the Constitutional Court's Decree, as well as the president's order.

They also asked the President to call for a delay in the inauguration of employees as ASN which was planned to be held on June 1, 2021, until the issues in the transition process are resolved.

In the letter, the employees also thanked President Jokowi for emphasizing that the process of transferring employee status should not be detrimental to KPK employees.

They claimed to have tried to voice their opinions orally or in writing to the KPK leaders regarding the status change to ASN. However, their input was answered by the issuance of a letter dated May 27, 2021, regarding the inauguration.

They also received a subtle threat that their ASN status would be canceled if they are not present at the inauguration event.
