Dewi Nurita, Jakarta – The national Covid-19 mitigation task force spokesman Wiku Adisasmito published critical evaluations related to the implementation of the 2020 Regional Head Election (Pilkada). He highlighted the poor facility and infrastructure to support health protocol at polling stations or TPS.

"As we observed by using a behavior change monitoring application system, the compliance rate of the institution and the availability of supporting facilities, such as handwashing stations, disinfectants, and officers tasked to monitor the protocol discipline, are still low at below 50 percent," said Wiku in a virtual press conference on Thursday, Dec. 10.

According to him, it was very lamentable given that the public compliance during the election was high. "The average percentage of individual obedience in wearing a mask in TPS is 95.96 percent, while in maintaining distance and avoiding crowd hit 90.71 percent," Wiku outlined.

He further asked the issue to be evaluated. "It is so unfortunate because this has been regulated in KPU regulations (PKPU). I ask the election organizers to evaluate this thoroughly," Wiku underlined.

The Covid-19 mitigation task force also expected the election organizers to make improvements by providing supporting facilities and infrastructures during the next elections in a bid to prevent Covid-19 transmission.
