Fikri Arigi and Dewi Nurita, Jakarta – Spokesman for the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) Munarman criticized Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko's statement regarding Xinjiang's Muslim ethnic Uighur minorities, which he deemed unconstitutional and far from what the Pancasila (five state ideologies) stands by.

"To hold on the constitution and Pancasila, a statement like that should not have come out his mouth. So now it has come to light who is actually un-Pancasila," said Munarman on Tuesday, December 24.

Previously on Monday, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said the Indonesian government would not intervene in the issue.

"Each country has its jurisdiction to manage its own citizens. So the government will not interfere with China's home affairs," Moeldoko asserted at his office, Monday, December 23.

The Indonesian government faced numerous pressure from Islamic mass organizations to firmly act upon China's domestic issue with the Uighur Muslim minorities. Not long ago, representatives of Indonesian Islam groups such as the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) were invited to directly visit Xinjiang.

Moreover, Munarman said FPI will no longer cling on hopes for the government to take action against China's government in terms of the Uighur issue.
