Imam Hamdi, Jakarta – A crowd consisting of Islamic mass-organizations has forcefully closed-off the access road that leads to the location of the upcoming annual music festival Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP), which is set to be held at the JIExpo in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

The 2019 DWP event is scheduled to be held for three consecutive days starting from Friday, December 13, 2019, until Sunday, December 15, 2019.

"We will arrive at the location in Kemayoran tomorrow. Today we will push Governor Anies Baswedan at City Hall to cancel the event," said the demonstration field coordinator Hakim Himran in a text message to Tempo.

Hakim argued that Anies Baswedan's approval of the event can be seen as a form of betrayal for most of the Muslim communities who he said supported him in the 2017 Gubernatorial Election.

"The governor has betrayed his people by supporting indecency," he said. "Don't let this be the moment when the elected governor favors indecency."

Hakim further announced that the mass-organizations will hold a three-day protest in rejecting the DWP event. The organizations joined in the protest comprised of the Islam Youth Movement (GPI), Fron Syuhada Indonesia, and the United Islam Forum (FUIB).
