Jakarta (Antara) – President Joko "Jokowi " Widodo targeted to extend the Sumatra toll road construction to reach the Aceh Province as the land acquisition process for the mega project in Aceh is 52 percent complete.

The latest update on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road is that the entire sections of the toll road will be completely connected by 2024.

"Our mobility, logistical networking, infrastructure supply, will greatly improve our competitiveness index," said Jokowi.

On Friday, November 15, 2019, the President inaugurated one of the mega toll road's section, the Terbanggi Besar – Kayu Agung that connects Lampung and Palembang, which will be free of charge in its first month of operation.

The toll section from Terbanggi Besar – Pematang Panggang – Kayu Agung stretches 189.2 kilometers long and connects Lampung to South Sumatra.

"It will be operable tomorrow morning and we will apply a one-month free trial," said the President at the Simpang Pematang Toll Gate on Friday, November 15, 2019.
