Friski Riana, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo decided not to comment on questions about the Law on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK Law) that will be effective on Thursday, October 17, 2019. The revised KPK Law was passed one month ago on September 17.

Rather than giving a straight answer, the President opted to respond merely with a smile before the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Bambang Soesatyo – who was present – interrupted by stating; "Please [ask] about the inauguration ceremony."

Widodo and MPR leaders had just conducted a meeting on the presidential and vice-presidential inauguration ceremony that will be held at the MPR headquarters this Sunday on October 20.

The president also opted to go with 'no comment' regarding his promise to issue a regulation in lieu of law (Perpu) on the revised KPK Law in his meeting with the National Mandate Party's Chairman Zulkifli Hasan a while ago.

His insistence on not providing the public a scheduled date for a Perpu he promised to issue has also attracted attention from Anita Wahid, third daughter of late president Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur.

Anita Wahid said Joko Widodo did not show his firm attitude on the plan of KPK Perpu issuance. Meanwhile, Jokowi previously held a meeting with intellectuals about the lieu of law on September 26, at the State Palace.
