Jakarta – Four siblings with a brother-in-law have been officiated as council members in Hulu Sungai Selatan regency in South Kalimantan. They were officiated together on Monday to be council members for the period of 2019-2024.
As reported by kompas.com, the five close relatives are Rodi Maulidi from the NasDem Party, Yuniati from The National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhlis Ridhani from the Golkar Party, Risma Fahriatni and her brother-in-law Surya Rizani, both from NasDem.
Among the five, only Surya and Risma are newcomers to the council, while the other three had been members of the council in the previous period.
"Praise God [I was] elected again," Yuniati said. She said it was not easy to win the people's support, but with her experience in politics and interacting with people, she won another term in the council.
Meanwhile, Mukhlis said that, although they came from different parties that might have clashing political positions, they always maintained harmony within the extended family.
"Sometimes our parties have different interest, and many times we see things from different perspective. But that is natural. In terms of family's interests, we are still in harmony," Muhlis said.
The council only numbers a total of 30 seats. (gis)
