Friski Riana, Jakarta – Gerindra Party Deputy Chairperson Rachmawati Soekarnoputri made it clear that the party will remain as an opposition in a statement delivered today at the Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya, Jakarta.
"Up until this moment [Gerindra remains an opposition]. I myself, as a board member often encourage members to remain outside of the system," she said.
Rachmawati's persistence is based on her argument that Gerindra will be able to fix the system if the party is not politically linked to the government in power. "Because the current system is diametral with the 1945 Constitution (UUD)," said Rachmawati.
Gerindra has yet made an official stand upon facing President Jokowi's second term in office since it must be discussed comprehensively. Rachmawati maintains that the party's function must be clear to help assist the nation's future.
