Jakarta (Antara) – Deputy head of the PKS Party faction at the House of Representatives (DPR), Aboebakar Alhabsyi, asserted his party would remain as opposition for the government of Joko Widodo or Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin.

"A dignified opposition is a notion that represents people's interest for prosperous and justice, instead of their own group," said Aboebakar during a discussion in Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, July 25.

He reiterated that his party will support policies issued by Jokowi-Ma'ruf as long as they are in accordance with the people's interest. Otherwise, he added, his party will be vocal rejecting the policies that harm the people.

"If there is a government regulation that is not for people, we will be at the forefront standing against the government," said Aboebakar.

Aboebakar, who is a member of DPR's Commission III, deemed the Jokowi – Ma'ruf administration requires a sparring partner in order to better serve the people. He opined controls on the government are necessary for a country that adheres to the democratic system to assure the administration runs well.

He underlined that PKS did not concern about the position after learned from PDIP Party that stayed as opposition for two periods yet remained calm.
