Eko Widianto, Malang – The ride-hailing app company Gojek has established a task force that will help to handle issues on sexual violence and harassment occurred during a trip for its partners and customers as they potentially become a victim in public spaces.

"The task force will immediately reach the victim, within 24 hours," said the Head of Regional Corporate Affairs East Java Alfianto Domy Aji in Malang, Thursday, July 25.

The Indonesian decacorn also determined to help provide physical and psychological recovery assistance for victims, as well as legal aid.

Besides, it has installed a security feature in the form of emergency and sharing the trip button on the application. The emergency button directly links to the task force to hand immediate help.

"Users can now share trip information with relatives, so their position can be tracked," Domy added.

He explained the features aimed at giving a sense of safety and convenience of users against criminal acts, particularly sexual crimes. "Most of our customers are women, and there are also female partners who potentially become victims," he said.

In addition, Go-Jek collaborated with Hollaback! Jakarta to educate partners to actively participate in preventing sexual violence. The training was held in 30 cities and involved 4,000 driver-partners.
