Halida Bunga, Jakarta – The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) announced that it will remain as an opposition together with Adil Makmur coalition that sides with Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno
"PKS will preserve the Adil Makmur coalition," said Mardani Ali Sera, the party's central executive board head of youth to Tempo today, June 25.
According to Madani, every political party is entitled to take independent decisions and argues that their choice to be an opposition will present a balance in power for Indonesia and take the role to "check and balance."
"It will undoubtedly be," he said. "Democracy needs a solid source of power to balance things out. We hope the public will collectively escort this process."
However, he said that PKS' final decision regarding their position in Indonesia's political realm will be discussed in the party's meeting.
A number of political parties have yet announced their position considering the ongoing trial of the election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK). The verdict is scheduled to be read on June 27, 2019.
