Aisha Shaidra, Jakarta – The draft music bill (RUU Permusikan) that was infamous for the amount of backlash it garnered from fellow musicians is finally dropped from the 2019 prioritized national legislative program.

This was announced by the coalition of musicians called the National Coalition against the Music Draft Bill (KNTL RUUP) via social platforms.

"Good news, the RUU Permusikan has officially been redacted by the House of Representatives from the 2019 prioritized national legislative program," Tweeted the KNTL RUPP.

The draft bill in its infancy was immediately met with rejections from a large number of national musicians and those active in the music industry. The coalition itself demanded the Draft Bill's initiator and fellow musician-turned-legislator Anang Hermansyah to drop the bill from the House's list of priority.

The wave of rejection was mainly focused on a number of subjects mentioned in the draft bill which could potentially be abused as it is largely considered as "rubber clauses."

The clauses that are seen as troublesome are Article 5 and 50 that oversees the banned elements in the music industry's creative process and the criminal charges for those that defy them. There are also four clauses stating that musicians must undergo a competence and certification process.

The coalition against the draft music bill also criticized Anang Hermansyah who they consider has lost his way in legislating the draft bill.
