PDI-P tops Jakarta's legislative election, newcomer PSI fifth: KPU's latest vote count

Jakarta – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) topped the legislative election league table, according to the Jakarta General Elections Commission's (KPU) latest real count for the legislative election, while newcomer Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) came fifth.

After the PDI-P came the Gerindra Party and Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). The three parties respectively earned 19.16 percent, 17.58 percent and 17.23 percent of the vote.

As of 7:30 a.m. on Friday, data from 2,341 out of 29,063 polling stations across Jakarta, or 8.05 percent, had been recorded, kompas.com reported.

Following the top three parties were the National Mandate Party (PAN) with 6.35 percent of the vote, the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) with 5.96 percent and Democratic Party with 5.95 percent.

The seventh position was the National Democratic Party (NasDem) with 5.76 percent and eighth was the National Awakening Party (PKB) with 5.48 percent.

The Golkar Party was in ninth position with 5.38 percent, followed by the United Development Party (PPP) with 3.1 percent and United Indonesia Party (Perindo) with 2.86 percent.

The Hanura Party and Berkarya Party, meanwhile, won 1.86 percent. The Crescent Star Party (PBB) got 0.8 percent, while the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI) got 0.38 percent. Last was the Garuda Party with 0.31 percent.

The KPU is expected to announce the final presidential and legislative election results to the public on May 22. (vla)
