Eko Widianto, Jakarta – University of Brawijaya political science expert Andhika Muttaqin predicts around 27,000 University of Brawijaya Malang students may potentially end up being non-voters or Golput in the upcoming general and presidential election because of time limitations.

He said that the university's activities will remain active as usual and near its Finals during the voting day on April 17, 2019.

This fact may hamper 55,000 or 40 percent of its university students who are registered voter originate from the Greater Jakarta Area (Jabodetabek), 10 percent comprise students originating outside of Java island, and 50 percent that consist of East Java students.

"There's only one day off, this makes it impossible for the students to vote in their hometown," said Andhika on Thursday, February 7.

The students are not just faced with time difficulties, Andhika also said that political parties seldom attempt to attract college students that amount to at least 5 million people. This also resulted in developing the students' political apathy toward the general elections and the presidential election.

"Very little of them watched the presidential debate," he said.
