M. Raihan Muzzaki, Jakarta – A number of people showed their support for the planned demonstration by the United Pati Society Alliance (AMPB) in front of the DPR building. Residents passing through Gatot Subroto Street on Wednesday night, August 26, 2026, approached the AMPB post to provide logistical assistance such as drinks, food, and raw vegetables.
The street in front of the parliament complex became increasingly crowded last night. Every vehicle moved slowly, while four traffic police officers were seen directing traffic in front of the crowded DPR complex.
Passing motorists turned their attention toward the central post, which also served as a storage hub for donated supplies. AMPB established the post in preparation for the mass demonstration scheduled for today, August 27, 2026.
The rally centers on two main demands: the swift passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill and the imposition of the death penalty for convicted corruptors. "We focus on these two demands, not on calling for the resignation of Prabowo-Gibran," said AMPB Coordinator Supriyono, known as Botok, speaking outside the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He emphasized that, at its core, AMPB supports the Prabowo-Gibran administration and wants it to outperform the previous government. Botok added that the group takes no issue with other rally participants voicing different agendas. "However, we only focus on these two demands. Anything beyond that does not represent AMPB," he clarified.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Metro Police deployed 4,274 personnel to secure demonstration sites across Jakarta on Thursday. Demonstrations are set to take place outside the Parliament building, at the South Monas intersection opposite the Danareksa Building, and at Taman Pandang Silang Monas.
"Expressing an opinion is the constitutional right of every citizen. The police are present to safeguard democratic space and ensure that aspirations can be expressed safely, peacefully, orderly, and responsibly," Head of Public Relations at the Jakarta Metro Police, Sr. Comr. Budi Hermanto, said.
The Jakarta Metro Police strategically stationed officers based on field requirements to ensure that all demonstrations proceed smoothly, peacefully, and in a secure environment.
