Mutia Yuantisya, Jakarta – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is optimistic that Indonesia's economy will grow by 8 percent. The reason is that it is supported by the strengthening of the national economic foundation, reform of the fiscal bureaucracy, and an increased role for the private sector and investments in driving economic activity.
At the Indonesia 2026 Science, Technology, and Industry Convention at the Jakarta Convention Center, Purbaya said that even in the midst of global turmoil, Indonesia's economy could still grow by 5.61 percent.
"Even amidst global turmoil, we can still grow by 5.61 percent. This shows that the economic growth engine has just started to warm up," Purbaya said in a press release on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
According to Purbaya, one of the economic growth engines that is being continuously driven is the institution under the Ministry of Finance, such as the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI), which can drive exports.
He mentioned that the Ministry of Finance, through LPEI, provides a Financing Program for Economic Zones for export-oriented SMEs. The program offers a maximum financing interest rate of 6 percent per year, and can even reach 4 percent to support growth.
Purbaya believes that economic growth can be gradually accelerated by first steering the economy towards a 6 percent range, and then continuing to increase alongside improvements in the investment climate, exports, and national productivity. This target is realistic if fiscal, monetary, and real-sector policies are coordinated.
He stated that this can be seen in the momentum of the economic recovery that began in late 2025. This momentum was strengthened by various government policies that focused on increasing liquidity, investments, public consumption, and accelerating state spending.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance supports the pace of economic growth through fiscal reform, particularly in taxation and customs. This reform is believed to strengthen state revenue and create a larger fiscal space to support development.
