Riani Sanusi Putri, Jakarta – Four Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers assigned to the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) have been charged with committing serious assault against the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, involving an acid attack.
The four defendants in this case are Sergeant Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.
The military prosecutor stated that the defendants had known Andrie Yunus since March 2025, when Andrie forced his way in and interrupted a meeting to discuss the revision of the TNI Law at a hotel in Jakarta. "With this incident, the defendants considered Andrie Yunus to have insulted the TNI institution, even trampled upon the TNI institution," the prosecutor said during the trial for the reading of the indictment at the II-08 Jakarta Military Court on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
According to the prosecutor, the incident that led to the acid attack took place after Sergeant Edi Sudarko and First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi met on March 9, 2026, and discussed their military service and personal issues. During the meeting, Edi Sudarko showed a viral video displaying Andrie Yunus' actions during the interruption of the TNI Law revision meeting in 2025.
The conversation continued on March 11, 2026, when Edi, Budhi, Nandala, and Sami gathered at Edi's place. During the meeting, Edi expressed his frustration with Andrie Yunus.
The prosecutor stated that Edi had expressed a desire to teach Andrieas a lesson. However, Budhi suggested that the victim should not be hit but should be poured with a rust cleaner. This proposal was then approved by Edi, Nandala, and Sami, and they agreed to act together.
For their actions, Edi, Budhi, Nandala, and Sami have been charged with violating Article 469 paragraph (1) jo Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code. Alternatively, Article 468 paragraph (1) jo Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code, and additionally, Article 467 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) jo Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code.
Previously, Andrie Yunus had requested President Prabowo Subianto to establish an independent joint fact-finding team (TGPF) to resolve the case of the acid attack against him. Andrie noted that more than a month after the attack, there had been no progress or serious willingness to resolve the case that had befallen him.
Andrie Yunus made his request in a letter directly addressed to Prabowo, which was delivered by the Solidarity Coalition for Andrie Yunus to the Ministry of State Secretariat on Friday, April 17, 2026.
In the letter, Andrie expressed his hope that the state would not take steps that would cloud the legal process. "As a victim of military violence, I ask Mr. President of the Republic of Indonesia to immediately establish the TGPF and decide that this case should be resolved in a public court," Andrie wrote on green paper with black ink.
He also asked President Prabowo to ensure accountability and adherence to the principle of due process in the handling of this case by establishing the public court as a legitimate, credible, and impartial forum, free from corrupt interests.
