Annisa Febiola, Jakarta – Jakarta Metro Police disclosed several key findings regarding the perpetrators behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).

The assault occurred on Thursday night, March 12, 2026, while Andrie was riding a motorcycle on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta. The police have established several critical leads concerning the alleged attackers.

1. Police identify two suspects

Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, Director of General Crime Investigation at the Jakarta Metro Police, revealed the initials of two suspected executors: BHC and MAK. The police identified them using scientific crime investigation methods.

"We suspect the two individuals whom we have identified through the police data as BHC and MAK," Iman said in a press conference at the Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

2. Discrepancies between police and military reports

On the same day, the military revealed four soldiers suspected of involvement in the attack. The Jakarta Military Command Military Police (Pomdam) has detained the four soldiers since Wednesday morning.

"This morning, I received individuals suspected of perpetrating violence against Andrie Yunus," stated the Commander of the TNI Military Police (Puspom TNI), Major General Yusri Nuryanto, at the TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon.

The soldiers, identified by the initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, are members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) from the air and naval forces.

3. Police suspect more than four perpetrators

In a press conference on Monday, March 16, 2026, Iman mentioned four individuals involved in the case. They were reportedly riding two motorcycles, with two individuals on each vehicle.

However, on Wednesday, Iman suggested that the number of perpetrators could be higher. "Based on the investigation, we do not rule out the possibility of there being more than four perpetrators, as we initially informed," he stated.

4. Assailants trailed victim from YLBHI office

Based on CCTV footage, police discovered that the perpetrators had been stalking Andrie since he left the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office, where he recorded a podcast. "The victim was followed upon departure by a motorcycle carrying two individuals, whom we suspect acted as the executors," said Iman.

Afterwards, Andrie stopped to refuel at a gas station in Cikini. The perpetrators followed him until he arrived at the scene. "They were monitored after leaving the gas station, and there were other individuals waiting at the location," he mentioned.

5. Perpetrators allegedly injured by acid splash

Iman further explained that the two perpetrators riding a motorcycle briefly stopped at Diponegoro Street after splashing Andrie with the chemical. At that spot, they were seen discarding their outer layers of clothing.

In CCTV footage shown by the police, one perpetrator is seen removing a blue shirt, revealing a red t-shirt underneath. "The substance allegedly splashed onto parts of their bodies, so both of them attempted to wash it off with mineral water," said Iman.
