Hin Pisei, Phnom Penh – Santo Darmosumarto, outgoing ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia, has affirmed that he will continue to help promote and encourage greater exchanges of visits between Indonesian and Cambodian investors, as well as motivate Indonesians to explore investment potential in Cambodia and further expand bilateral trade.

This statement was made during a farewell meeting between Darmosumarto and Sun Chanthol, first vice-chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), at the CDC headquarters on February 3.

Chanthol expressed his appreciation for Darmosumarto's efforts throughout his diplomatic tenure, which significantly contributed to strengthening friendship and expanding cooperation between Cambodia and Indonesia, particularly in the fields of the economy, trade and investment.

Darmosumarto shared his gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia as well as the CDC for providing excellent cooperation and all necessary facilitations, leading to the success of his diplomatic mission.

"Although my diplomatic mission in Cambodia has come to an end, I will continue to serve as an important bridge in further promoting Cambodia's investment potential and opportunities to the Indonesian business community," he said.

According to the CDC, both sides discussed several key achievements, including business connectivity, increased trade volume, promotion of investor exchange visits between Indonesia and Cambodia, and Cambodia's support for Indonesian companies currently operating in, or planning to expand their businesses in, Cambodia.

The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) reported that in 2025, total trade between Cambodia and Indonesia amounted to $1.08919 billion, a decrease of 1.3% from 2024. Exports totalled $67.42 million, down 28.8%, while imports were $1.02176 billion, an increase of 1.3%. Indonesia is Cambodia's 10th largest trading partner, after China, the US, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Spain and Germany.

Beyond trade relations, Cambodia also welcomed a significant number of Indonesian guests. In 2025, 149,840 Indonesian visitors travelled to Cambodia, representing a decline of 10.2% compared to 2024, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
