Dani Aswara, Jakarta – The Dutch Fort building in Mempura District, Siak Regency, Riau, collapsed on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at approximately 09:00 a.m. local time. The incident occurred while students from the Baitul Ridho Lubuk Dalam Integrated Islamic Elementary School (SDIT) were on the second floor of the historical site.

The floor structure reportedly collapsed suddenly during an explanation session. As a result, participants and their companions fell and were struck by building materials. The Siak Regency Health Office recorded the incident as a non-natural health crisis in the form of a mass casualty incident (MCI).

The Acting Crisis Health Program Officer of the Siak Regency Health Office, Irwan Safaria, stated that the incident was managed through the Siak Regency Integrated Emergency Response System (SPGDT). "This incident involved mass trauma with 16 casualties," Irwan said in a statement quoted on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

A total of 15 children and one teacher were affected. All victims received immediate medical treatment following the collapse. The Mempura Community Health Center conducted triage at the site, provided initial treatment, and evacuated the victims by ambulance.

Ten victims were referred to the Tengku Rafian Siak Regional Hospital for further treatment. The remaining six victims underwent medical observation and were discharged as their conditions were deemed stable.

Based on initial examinations at the referral hospital, one victim suffered severe injuries, six had moderate injuries, and three had minor injuries. The injuries included lacerations on the head and face, bruises, back and leg pain, and suspected fractures.

As of Saturday afternoon, there were no reported fatalities. However, one victim was further referred to a hospital in Pekanbaru for additional medical treatment.

Irwan mentioned that the Siak Regency Health Office also planned to conduct radiological examinations on several victims. This examination was carried out to ensure there were no internal injuries undetected through the initial clinical examination.

In addition to physical treatment, Irwan added that all victims and participants were recommended to receive psychosocial support services. This step was taken to aid in their mental recovery following the incident.
