Alif Ilham Fajriadi, Jakarta – The Directorate General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has officially notified 25 private electronic system providers (PSEs) operating in Indonesia that they are not in compliance with the necessary administrative requirements.
Most of the services from the PSE list are popular applications and websites widely used by internet users in the country, such as ChatGPT and Duolingo.
The Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, stated that the institution has conveyed regulations regarding the obligation to complete administrative requirements to Private Electronic System Providers. This socialization is outlined in the Minister of Communication and Information Regulation No. 5 of 2020 concerning Private Electronic System Providers (Permenkominfo No. 5 of 2020).
According to Articles 2 and 4 of the regulation, all private electronic system providers, whether domestic or foreign, must register their electronic systems before operating them. "If they still do not register after the notification is sent, administrative sanctions, including access termination, can be applied in accordance with the applicable regulations," said Alexander in a written statement on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
