Ilona Estherina, Jakarta – Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, is preparing a Rp20 trillion investment targeting chicken farmers who supply the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. Danantara's Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Sjahrir, stated that the plan would soon be discussed with the House of Representatives (DPR).

The investment will be used to support livestock development. Details will be announced after the meeting with parliament members. "We're going to the DPR next month, and after that, we will share the details," he said at Wisma Danantara in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The plan for Danantara's investment involvement was previously revealed by Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman. "We will supply the entire country to support the National Nutrition Agency (BGN)," Amran said in a press release on Friday, November 7, 2025.

According to Amran, the funds are intended to strengthen the national supply of chicken and eggs, aiming to boost production and ensure Indonesia does not face supply shortages for the MBG program.

Beyond the MBG support allocation, Amran also stated that Danantara has agreed to a total investment of Rp371 trillion. The funding is aimed at accelerating development activities across the agricultural, plantation, livestock, and horticulture sectors.

Amran mentioned that the Ministry of Agriculture will soon complete a feasibility study for submission to Danantara. The majority of the investment will be channeled into plantation commodities such as sugarcane, cocoa, and cashew nuts. Amran is confident that development activities along the riverbanks can increase the commodity value by up to 500 percent.
