Dani Aswara, Jakarta – The Forum of Retired Indonesian National Armed Forces Members (FPP TNI) has stated that they are taking various measures to push for the impeachment of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. They are monitoring one of the efforts, which is the Rp125 trillion civil lawsuit against Gibran in the Central Jakarta District Court.

Commodore (Ret.) Moeryono Aladin, a representative of FPP TNI, stated that one of the avenues being monitored is the lawsuit filed by Subhan Palal's lawyer. "We are waiting for (developments in the House), but it hasn't happened yet. Now we are looking for other loopholes to make this happen," said Moeryono when met at MMD Initiative, Senen, Central Jakarta, Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Several retired military figures accompanied him, including former Vice Chief of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General (Ret.) Fachrul Razi; former Chief of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) Staff Marshal (Ret.) Hanafie Asnan and Dwi Tjahjo Soewarsono.

According to Moeryono, FPP TNI's struggle aligns with the demands in the lawsuit. "Subhan Palal filed a lawsuit for Rp125 trillion, but it's not about the money. The only requirement is for Gibran to step down. So, there's no need for impeachment, but to resign. That's the target, and we're also heading in that direction," he said.

The lawsuit against Gibran is registered under number 583/Pdt.G/2025/PN Jakpus. Subhan considers that Gibran does not meet the educational requirements to become a vice-presidential candidate because he does not have a high school diploma or its equivalent in Indonesia. He asked the panel of judges to declare that Gibran and the General Election Commission (KPU) have engaged in illegal acts.

This case adds political pressure on Gibran, who currently holds the position of vice president for the 2024-2029 period. For the FPP TNI, this legal step is a way to challenge Gibran's legitimacy and assert their position on governance ethics and constitutionality.

On June 2, 2025, the Forum of Retired TNI Members officially submitted a letter to the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the House of Representatives (DPR) to propose the impeachment of Gibran. Dwi Tjahyo Soewarsono considered Constitutional Court Decision Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023, which paved the way for Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run in the 2024 presidential election, laden with ethical violations and legal defects.

"Thus, Decision Number 90 indicates planned and organized constitutional crimes," said Dwi Tjahyo to Tempo, Saturday, July 12, 2025.
