Novali Panji Nugroho, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto delivered a strong message to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), urging them to introspect regarding the ongoing plunder of the nation's natural resources.
"There are still many of Indonesia's riches being stolen, smuggled, and taken by irresponsible powers," Prabowo stated during his speech at the 80th TNI anniversary celebration in Monas Square, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
The President began his address by referencing foreign invasions from the colonial era to the present day. He then shifted focus, asserting that the TNI has an obligation to actively safeguard the country's natural resources. He suggested this could be achieved through the various organizations currently under TNI command.
"The TNI must be responsive, assist law enforcement, and support regional and central governments in preserving the wealth of natural resources," Prabowo emphasized.
He stressed that Indonesia's natural resources must be managed properly, as they are key to eradicating poverty. "These natural resources are crucial for Indonesia to advance and become a modern, fair, and prosperous nation in line with the aspirations of our nation," he added.
The 80th TNI anniversary ceremony was attended by the Red and White cabinet, along with leaders from legislative and judicial institutions. Also present were former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and several former Vice Presidents, including Try Sutrisno, Jusuf Kalla, Boediono, and Ma'ruf Amin.
