Ahead of 80th anniversary, TNI holds interfaith prayer in Jakarta

Dani Aswara, Jakarta – The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) held a multi-faith prayer gathering ahead of the 80th Anniversary at the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta, on Saturday, October 4, 2025. The event was attended by thousands of participants from the TNI, religious figures, heroes' families, and the public.

Six figures from various religions led the prayer. From Islam, Ustadz Adi Hidayat and Yusuf Aman attended. Catholic figure Romo Yos Bintoro and Arlyanus Larosa from the Protestant faith also led the prayers. Pinandita Astono Chandra Dana represented Hinduism. Asun Gotama represented Buddhism, and Rusya Supit represented Confucianism.

"Let us pray, hopefully this prayer will strengthen our spirit and body to build a great Indonesia," said Ustadz Adi, leading the prayer.

The event was attended by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Deputy Defense Minister Air Marshal (Ret.) Donny Ermawan, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Vice TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, as well as all Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Several revolution heroes and veterans of Operation Seroja also attended. The total participants reached 7,800 people, including representatives of heroes' families, orphans, Barisan Ansor Serbaguna (Banser), Muhammadiyah Young Generation Alertness Command (Kokam), youth from different religions, and TNI soldiers.

The prayer gathering is one of the events leading up to the culmination of the 80th anniversary celebration of TNI, which will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2025. In this celebration, TNI will deploy 133,000 personnel and 1,047 main weapon systems (alutsista), making it the largest celebration in recent years. President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to lead the ceremony.

The main event will begin with a troop and material inspection, followed by a musical performance and air show, parade ceremony, display of soldier skills, and a troop and alutsista defile. The peak celebration will be enlivened by a public entertainment stage featuring performances by NDX AKA, Dewi Persik, Kotak, and Wali Band.
